

Geneva was born in 1928 to Burlie and Josephine Smith in Nebo Virginia. After Geneva graduated from high school she attended Business College to study Administration.
In 1958 Geneva married Gayle Mitchell in Wilmington North Carolina. Geneva and Gayle traveled extensively to different duty locations during Gayle’s service in the Air Force. They were married until Gayle’s passing in 1991. Geneva spent the majority of her career in Administration at NASA Langley Research Center. In 1993, Geneva retired and spent her time volunteering on the Worship Committee at Saint Mark’s United Methodist Church as well as traveling the world with friends. In 1997, Geneva married Luther (Ray) Gentry in retirement and they traveled the world together. She was an avid reader and loved to play board games.
Geneva was preceded in death by her parents Burlie and Josephine Smith, and her brothers Harry Lee Smith, William (Bill) Smith, Beatie (Jack) Smith and James Smith. She is survived by her husband Ray Gentry, step sons Craig and Kevin Gentry, sister Betty Yates and brother Burlie (June) Smith.
Services will be held in April at Lindsey Funeral Home with burial at Mountain View Cemetery in Rural Retreat Virginia.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Alzheimer's Association, an organization Geneva felt strongly about.
