Geraldine Cooke

Geraldine was born on August 9, 1941 in Cleveland County, NC to the late Mr. Ambus Moses and Mrs. Lucy Moses. She departed this earthly life on Saturday, February 20, 2021 at Riverside Hospital in Newport News, VA.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, John D. Moses and sisters, Maxine Stephenson and Rosell Meeks.

She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Gyasi and Erica Cooke; two grandchildren, Gabriella and Myles; her brother, Carey Moses and wife Ruby; two sisters, Bobbie M. Hayes, and Lurlean Moses; sister-in-law Grayce Pitts, and Jammie Cooke who she was married to for forty-nine years and continued as close friends thereafter, and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and dear friends who will deeply miss her.

She loved being an educator and she taught in the New York City school system for over thirty years. She attended Calvary Chapel Newport News, and participated in teaching vacation Bible school. She mentored hundreds of students, who will remember her always. Her light and lessons will shine on in each person forever.
