She was a graduate of MCV School of Nursing in 1940 after which she was employed as an R.N. for several years. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Hampton.
Helen was preceded in death by her husband, William T. Cooper; daughter, Susan Cooper Payne; and brother, Earl C. Bigger of Hampton. Survivors include two daughters, Marie Freeman of Poquoson, VA, and Margaret "Margie" Cooper of Hampton, VA; two grandchildren, Annie Payne of Hampton and Kevin Payne of Williamsburg, VA; and great-granddaughter, Kayla Payne of Williamsburg, VA.
A celebration of Helen's life will be held at 2 pm, Tuesday, May 14, 2013 at Parklawn-Wood Funeral Home.
