

James Melvin Buckingham, 80, passed away on Monday, June 26, 2017. He was born in Willard, Ohio and was a resident of Virginia for 35 years. James was a veteran of the U.S. Army. After serving in the military James worked for the Newport News Shipbuilding for 19 years. He was a volunteer for the Virginia Living Museum with 3,000 plus hours of service and received the Gloria Lombardi Award in 2016 for his dedication.
James is preceded in rest by his father, Melvin Buckingham; mother, Eva Slessman Buckingham; and brother, Lloyd Buckingham. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Marilyn Buckingham; son, Brad Buckingham (Michelle); daughters, Debbie Henson (Dwain) and Julie Finkenauer (Paul); grandchildren, Colby, Jared, Jeremy, Marcus, and Matthew; brothers, Clair and Paul; sister, Karen Fitchelman and other loving friends and family.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 pm on Sunday, July 2, 2017 at Parklawn-Wood Funeral Home. A celebration of James’ life will be held at 2:00 pm on Monday, July 3, at the funeral home.
Memorial donations may be offered to the Virginia Living Museum or the Animal Aid Society.
