James McDonald Boone, Jr.

Jim touched the lives of many contractors and local residents during his 50 year career in the lumber business, beginning at R.F. Slaughter Lumber Corporation, and eventually retiring from Waterfront Lumber. Known to many as Jim, his loved ones called him Jimmy, Dad, and his favorite title, PopPop. He loved his family dearly.

He was preceded in death by his parents: James Boone, Sr. and Lynda Boone. Jim is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Debbie; his children: Michele Guilford (Hank) and Brad Boone (Erin); his six beautiful grandchildren: Joshua, Chandler, Kaylea, Raegann, Lynlea, and Kason; and one great-grandson, his special, little buddy, Jaxon; his puppy dog, Buddy; his brother, David Boone (Sylvia); his sisters: Patricia Graziani Sleigher (Bill), Sharon Bounds (David); and many nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends at 11:00 AM on Saturday, May 31, 2025 at Parklawn-Wood Funeral Home, 2551 North Armistead Avenue, Hampton, VA 23666. A Celebration of Life service will start at 12:00 PM, followed by interment at Parklawn Memorial Park at 1:00 PM.
