James Sylvester Raines

MSgt James S. Raines died October 29, 2017. Sgt Raines had been a resident of Newport News since 1976. He retired from the United States Air Force at Langley Air Force Base after completing 26 years of active duty including service in the Philippines, Korea, Vietnam, and Germany. He was preceded in death by his spouse Teresita P. Raines. He is survived by four sons, Wayne Raines of Connecticut, James Raines of Hayes, VA, Michael Raines and Edwin Raines of Newport News; one daughter, Jeanette Kennedy of Amory, Mississippi; seven grandchildren, Craig, Elizabeth, Stacy, Alexis, Joshua, Madalin, and Jacob; four great-grandchildren, Kenna, Lily, Logan, and Isabella; and two beloved sisters, Mrs. Eunice Ewton of Lancaster, SC, and Mrs. Janice Wessinger of Rock Hill, SC. Graveside service and interment will be held Wednesday, November 1, 2017 at 1:00 pm at Parklawn Memorial Park.
