

John was a veteran of the Air Force with 22 years of service. He retired after 18 years from a second career with the Norfolk Naval Base. He was a lifelong member of Elks Lodge #366 and VFW of Phoebus. He attended LAFB Main Chapel.
He was preceded in death by his wives, Jean Hall Jenkins and Marian Troy Jenkins. Survivors include his four daughters, Vicky Carty and husband Bill, Kathy Jarrell and husband Steve, Cindy Dawson and husband Jess of Kissimmee, FL, and Debbie Fredrickson and husband Charles; sisters, Carolyn Miller of Lynchburg, Betty Proffitt of Forest, and Nancy Kendrick of Lynchburg; nine grandchildren; and ten great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held on Thursday, June 18, 2015 at 1:00 pm at the LAFB Bethel Manor Chapel, officiated by Chaplain Sarah Snow.
