John was a longtime Hampton resident and a co-owner and operator of Smitty’s Better Burger. He had many hobbies including golfing, fishing, and reading. To say he enjoyed reading would be an understatement; having read thousands of books in his lifetime, he was rarely caught without a book.
Preceded in death by his parents, four brothers, Thomas, Howard “Buck”, Charles “Bill”, Richard and one sister, Delia “Dee”, John is survived by a brother, Paul Smith, as well as many other loving relatives and friends. John never had children of his own; however he was the Uncle Extraordinaire to his many nieces and nephews.
