On September 29, 2016, Giuseppe “Joe” Buffa went to be with Our Father. Joe was born in Carini, Sicily, Italy on December 12, 1951. He left his homeland in 1968 to pursue the American dream. He came to America, working in Brooklyn, New York City eventually moving to Hampton, Virginia. With his father, Girolamo Buffa and uncle, Cristoforo Russo, they opened the first Anna’s Pizza Restaurant on the Peninsula in Buckroe Shopping Center in Hampton, Virginia. Following this, Joe’s passion led him to opening his own restaurant, Joe and Mimma’s in 1973 in Newport Square Shopping Center in Newport News, Virginia. His business flourished and moved to his last location on J. Clyde Morris Boulevard until his retirement in 2016.
Joe was a man who possessed a larger than life heart. His infectious smile would light up a room. He touched the lives of many with his generosity and his overwhelming love for his family and friends. Everyone who met him immediately fell in love with him and his joyful presence. His legacy will live on forever through everyone he ever touched. Joe's passing leaves us with broken hearts that will never be mended.
Joe was preceded in death by his parents, Girolamo and Rosaria Buffa. He is survived by his loving wife, Pamela, his sisters, Mimma Lopiccolo (Franco), Anna Bazzani (Robert) and brother, Mario Buffa (Connie). He will be dearly missed by his daughters, Rosaria Tania Marie Williams (Roger Langwell) and Christene Elizabeth Buffa (Daniel Rosinski). Joe is survived by the greatest loves of his life, his grandchildren, Nicolas Anthony Williams, Sebastian Joseph Williams, Marcelo Gianni Rosinski and Casey Adams Rosinski. Joe is also survived by numerous uncles, aunts, nieces and nephews in the United States and in Italy.
