Josephine Ruzicka Chilson

Josephine R. Chilson, 88, a native of Fort Worth, Texas and 48 year resident of Hampton, passed away Sunday, November 7, 2010. She served as a Yeoman in the U.S. Navy during WWII. She worked for the Civil Service as a Secretary for the U.S. Army at Ft. Monroe, VA and retired in 1983. She was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church in Hampton.

Josephine was preceded in death by her husband Clifton A. Chilson, her parents and two sisters.

She is survived by her two daughters, Juliana Hynson and her husband Allen and Anita Thrasher and her husband Henry; four grandchildren, Jessica Hynson, Thomas, David and Andrew Thrasher.

The family wishes to offer special thanks to the staff at Lake Taylor Transitional Hospital for her wonderful care.

Friends are invited to visit Tuesday, Nov. 9 from 6 to 7:30 PM at Parklawn-Wood Funeral Home. A celebration of Josephine’s life will be held Wednesday, Nov. 10 at 12 Noon at Wesley United Methodist Church, 2510 N. Armistead Ave. in Hampton, with Pastor Elizabeth Taylor officiating. Interment will be in Peninsula Memorial Park in Newport News.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Wesley United Methodist Church, 2510 N. Armistead Ave., Hampton, VA 23666.
