On January 23, 2011, after an extended illness, our beloved mother, Judith Ann Campbell, 72, soared to the heavens to be reunited with loved ones gone by. She was reunited with her longtime companion and love, Joseph F. Galano (Ernie), our fathers, Mickie Campbell and Arthur Smith, and a host of friends. Judy was born in Horning, England.
Judy retired from Kearney and Sons, Inc. after many enjoyable years of service. She loved working in her garden and found great comfort and peace there. However, Judy's most important job was that of a homemaker and mother. She will be remembered most for her UNCONDITIONAL love of her family. She had a great sense of humor and never met a stranger. She especially loved spoiling her grandchildren (The Club). She came to the United States at the age of 18 as a military bride and was always the gracious hostess and greatest cook in the world. Judy loved to travel, often returning to England and Australia, but her best times were spent with her best friend and sister, Val.
She is survived by her four children, Scott Smith, Marc Smith (Diana), Lisa Deel (Randy), and Michael Campbell, all of Hampton; her siblings, Valerie Miller (William) of Queensland, Australia, James Jones (Carol) of North Walsham, England, and Kathy Crane (Melvin) of Norwich, England; and her grandchildren, Brett Smith, and Brittany, Courtney, and Ryan Deel. She also leaves to grieve her memory her dear friends, Patricia McCarthy of Newport News and Catherine Credle of Virginia Beach.
In accordance with her wishes, Judy was cremated. Her children, Scott, Marc, Lisa and Michael ask that you honor their mother with your personal and private prayers and celebrations of her life, as they will do.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, January 26, at 10 a.m. at the funeral home. A memorial service will follow at 11 a.m. at Parklawn-Wood Funeral Home.
In lieu of food and/or flowers, the family kindly requests your expressions of sympathy take the form of donations to the American Cancer Society, 11835 Canon Blvd., Suite 102-A, Newport News, VA 23606 or the American Heart Association, 500 E. Plume Street, Suite 110, Norfolk, VA 23510.
Arrangements are under the care of Parklawn-Wood Funeral Home, 2551 N Armistead Ave., Hampton, VA 23666.
