Julie Marie Eckstine, more lovingly known as “Jules” by those closest to her, gained her wings on March 7, 2025. She was born in Wichita, Kansas on May 16, 1964, to George Nellos and Frances Nellos. Born to a military family, she moved to California, England and eventually Hampton, VA where she resided for over 40 Years.
Julie worked very hard her entire life. Most of her career was spent at Dominion Energy, where she met and helped countless people whether it be through training, supervising and project management or just being surrounded by her calming presence.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Frances Nellos, and leaves behind her loving husband Bob; her two daughters, Chelsey and Heather; her parents, George and Joanne; her sisters in-law, Tonya and Kim, alongside their husbands and children; her sisters by choice, April, Michelle and Lisa; her Myers/ Nellos/ Healy family in Massachusetts and immeasurable life-long friends who she loved and cared for dearly. My mom greeted everyone she met with a smile and never hesitated to reach out a helping hand to those who needed it. She was a shoulder to cry on and had a sense of humor that would leave you crying with laughter. Her wit, strength, drive and perseverance were unrivaled. She told the best stories and never left out a detail, especially when it came to something she got a tickle out of. My mom loved her fur babies and was the best fur-grandma in the world, leaving them all spoiled rotten with love and kisses. She always opened up her heart to listen when people had a problem and gave the best advice, even if it was tough love-- it always came from a place of sincerity. She was truly unlike any other person and will be deeply missed by those around her.
The Funeral Service will be held at Parklawn-Wood Funeral Home on March 22, 2025. Visitation will be from 3:00 p.m to 4:00 p.m, where the service will start promptly at 4:00 p.m. There will be a reception held at Parklawn after the service for any loved ones who would like to stay after and share their memories of Julie and celebrate her life. It is requested that in lieu of flowers, please donate to the Animal Aid Society in Hampton, VA as my mom truly loved animals, this would have made her happy.
