Katherine Frances Agard

Katherine Frances Agard, 87 was called home to be with the Lord on Thursday, October 5, 2017. She was born in Newport News, Virginia and was a retiree of the City of New York, Department of Social Services. After retirement, she lived in Homestead, Florida before returning home to the Peninsula. She was a faithful member of Hampton Roads Seventh-Day Adventist Church and enjoyed spending time with her family, friends and traveling the world.

She was preceded in death by her parents, James Wesley Slade, Sr., and Julia Blanche Slade; brother, James Wesley Slade, Jr;, sister, Mary Ruth Williams; and stepson, Norman Agard.

Remaining to cherish her memories are her loving husband of 49 years, John Agard; stepson, Cornell Agard; her sisters, Bernetta Bandy and Daisy Mitchell; brothers, Charles (Bernice) Slade, Alphonso Slade, Alfred (Brenda) Slade and Carl Slade; 3 grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.

A memorial service honoring Katherine's life will be held at 1:00 pm on Friday, October 27, 2017 at Parklawn-Wood Funeral Home and will be officiated by Pastor Cornel Stoian; interment will follow at Hampton Memorial Gardens.

The family extends gratitude for the excellent care Katherine received by her numerous dedicated caretakers including many family and friends.
