

Kay was born on June. 16, 1939 in Pocomoke City, Maryland to the late Robert L. Walker and Kathleen M. Walker. She was preceded in death by Richard “Dickie” S. Gray (Husband), Robert L. Walker (Father), Kathleen M. Walker (Mother), Robert “Bob” Walker (Brother), Jason L. Walker (Nephew) and Shelby K. Snapp (Granddaughter).
She was a lifelong Peninsula resident. Kay graduated from Newport News High School in 1957 and was a forever proud “Typhoon” where she met her high school sweetheart and husband of more than 54 years, Dickie. She was a member of Beta Sigma Phi and worked for Hampton Roads Sanitation Commission.
She was a longtime member of Denbigh United Presbyterian Church. She enjoyed special times with her family and friends at the beach, she also enjoyed scrapbooking and crafts. She was an avid Virginia Cavalier fan.
Her memory will be cherished by her family; two children Stephen L. Gray (Lynn) of West Point, Robin G. Snapp (Randy), of Yorktown; grandchildren, Zachary S. Gray (John) of Florida, Spencer A. Snapp (Brittany) of Yorktown, Chelsea G. White (Ryan) of West Point, and Summer S. Chavez (Richard) of Williamsburg; Great-Grandchild Carter Snapp, Teagan Snapp, Parker Snapp and Sara Chavez. Sister-in-law, Ramona D. Walker of Hampton and brother-in-law Robert J. Maynard (Sherry), of Yorktown. She is also survived by cousins, nieces and nephews.
The family is having a graveside Celebration of Life on July 17, 2025 @ 11a.m. At Parklawn Memorial Park, Hampton, VA.
In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made in her honor to Denbigh United Presbyterian Church, 302 Denbigh Blvd, Newport News, VA 23608 or the Peninsula SPCA, 523 J. Clyde Morris Blvd, Newport News, VA 23601. The family would also like to express their appreciation to Yorktown/Grafton Fire Department, Riverside/ Hospice Team and Pastor Deborah Dail, of Denbigh United Presbyterian Church.
