Kelly Corson Hargett, 44, of Rutherfordton went to be with her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, November 6, 2013. She is survived by her husband, Mark Hargett of Rutherfordton, North Carolina and son, Caleb Howard of Poquoson, Virginia. Other family surviving Kelly includes her father, Raymond Corson and step-mother, Cindy Corson, of Purcellville, Virginia; mother, Mary Newton Oliver of Ninety Six, South Carolina; and four sisters, Deanna Brinkley of Douglas, Georgia, Elisabeth Whetstine of Newport News, Virginia, Rebecca Smith of Matthews, North Carolina, and Leah Corson of Chesapeake, Virginia. Born in Newport News, Virginia, Kelly loved to laugh, sing and exceed expectations of others. She showed great compassion toward everyone with whom she came in contact, and she loved to provide for others. Anyone who knew Kelly realized that she had a unique and special bond with her son Caleb. The special bond she had with her husband Mark, Caleb, and family was attributable to her tremendous faith in her Lord Jesus Christ. She took exceptional pride in making her house a home for her family. She loved flying with her husband Mark and had even learned to pilot a plane herself. Kelly took great joy in using her specialty as a scratch cook to offer love to those around her and in her home. She had an extensive background in restaurant management which showcased her great attention to detail, love of people, and commitment to excellent service. Kelly was blessed with a magnetic personality that affected all who crossed her path. She was a person who loved to spend time with her friends and family. Many lives were affected by Kelly's wonderful spirit and she will be greatly missed. The family will receive friends from 12:00 to 1:00 pm on Monday, November 11, 2013 at Parklawn-Wood Funeral Home, with a celebration of Kelly’s life to begin at 1:00 pm. Interment will follow at Parklawn Memorial Park. Donations may be made to Hospice of Rutherford County, P.O. Box 336, Forest City, NC 28043 in Kelly's honor.
