

Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of his saints. Psalm 116:15. Ms. Letha “Sadie” Jackson, 67, went on to be with the Lord on October 31, 2011 at her home in Newport News following a courageous battle with cancer. The daughter of the late Mr. Sherman Yarborough and Mrs. Bessie Monroe, she was born on November 15, 1943 and reborn in the month of August 1990.
Mrs. Jackson retired from government service in 2004. She was a long time member at the Messiah Center in Hampton, where she was baptized in the name of Jesus and filled with the Holy Spirit by speaking in other tongues. She was also active in the Sign language Ministry and Signing Choir.
Letha was preceded in death by her son Jeremiah.
She is survived by her son David and wife Dorenda, daughter Juanita, son Charles and wife Lois, daughter Diane and husband Tim Thomas, daughter Thelma and husband Tim Taylor, and daughter Sadie and husband Windell Osbourne; brother Sherman Monroe; sister Kim Monroe; 17 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and longtime companion, Joseph Hyman.
A memorial celebration of Letha’s life will be held at the Messiah Center, 1421 W Pembroke Ave. in Hampton on Nov. 3 at 1 pm. Interment will follow in Hampton Memorial Gardens.
