

Lois G. Duke, 87, passed away on Tuesday, July 16, 2013 after a long courageous battle with cancer and Parkinson’s disease. She was a native of Aurelian Springs, N.C. and was a resident of Hampton for the last 68 years. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend who will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
Lois was retired from Hampton Public Schools after serving as a secretary at Bethel High School. She was a longtime member of Aldersgate United Methodist Church and a volunteer at the former Hampton General Hospital for ten years.
Lois was preceded in death by her husband, George V. Duke, four brothers, and two sisters. She is survived by her two daughters, Carolyn D. Widener (Stanley) and Lela Duke; four grandchildren, Chris, Terri, Chase, Brittany; and one great-granddaughter, Elisia.
The family will receive friends starting at 1:00 pm, Sunday, July 21, 2013 at Aldersgate United Methodist Church, 151 Wythe Parkway, Hampton followed by a celebration of Lois’ life will be held at 2:00 pm. Interment will follow at Parklawn Memorial Park.
Memorial donations may be made in lieu of flowers to Aldersgate United Methodist Church.
