Margie Joanne Neill

Our beloved Margie Joanne Neill passed peacefully at 78 on July 31, 2024. She was born and raised in Selma, NC to Margie Lee Johnson and Joseph Homer Johnson. She lived in Newport News until 1984 when she moved to Hampton, VA, and stayed for 40 years until her passing.

Joanne was a loving, kind, strong, and amazing woman. She was always supportive and understanding. She will be remembered for the multitude of stories that she told, her caring nature, big heart, and joyful laughter.

Joanne is survived by her brother, Ronnie Johnson; and sister, Lisa Carol Bateman. Her three daughters: Charlene T. M. Neill, Kathy M. Cruz-Amaya, Shannan J. Neill and spouse Delmar Dupree. Her grandchildren: Angelita E. Cruz and spouse Colton C. Leser, Juanita M. Cruz and spouse David I. Falconer, Meranda C. Cruz, Maggie M. Neill, Desarie D. Dupree, Shealynn L. Dupree, and Dylan J. Dupree; Her great-grandchildren: Madison L. Mitchell, Ian B. Falconer, Harmony L. Mitchell, Layne L. Falconer, and Hartleigh R. Cruz. Joanne is preceded in death by her parents Margie Lee Johnson and Joseph Homer Johnson and her brothers Bobby G. Johnson and Donnie H. Johnson.

The memories of Joanne will always be in our hearts. She was greatly loved and will be forever missed. Full of love, laughter, and resilience she touched the lives of all who knew her.
