

Mary C. Karika of Hampton, VA entered into eternal life on Thurs., Feb. 6, 2014, after a brief 5 month illness. She was born July 4, 1919 in Mt. Vernon, Indiana and was married to CWO Charles Karika (deceased) of the U.S. Army. Together they traveled the world – to Kentucky, Texas, Washington, Georgia, Japan, Alaska, and Germany. Mary had lived in Hampton for the past 55 years and was a member of Liberty Baptist Church.
In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by one son, Jack R. Karika. She is survived by one daughter, Diana K. Finch (Phillip) of Yorktown; three sons, Charles Karika (Beverly) of Denver, CO, Rev. Mark Karika (Karen) of Chesapeake, VA and Henry “H.L.” Karika (Marie) of Hampton; 8 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; and her special dog friend, Lady.
The family wishes to thank the staffs of Northampton Convalescent and Rehab. Center, in Hampton, Bayside Golden Living and Dominion Village (both Poquoson), and Sentara CarePlex Hospital in Hampton for their love and care over the last 5 months of her life.
Visitation with the family will be held on Sun., Feb. 9, 2014, from 3:00 to 5:00 pm at Parklawn-Wood Funeral Home. A funeral service will be conducted at the funeral home at 2:00 pm on Mon., Feb. 10, officiated by Rev. Joe Hunt. Interment will follow at Parklawn Memorial Park.
