Mikey . . . I have been out of state for quite a while and recently returned to Hampton and just heard of your passing.  I can't begin to tell you how sad and heartbroken I feel over losing you so early in your life.  Memories of you, Jake, Kim and all of our friends from Hampton are overwhelming right now.  You were a wonderful man and great friend and you will be greatly missed for all time.  I will always remember the fun, the tears and the laughter we shared for so many years.

My Dearest Brother,
You were my guiding light through out the years.  I will miss not being able to call you or see you during my times of need.  You dragged me from the dungeons of hell at times when I had no faith.  You helped me to have the faith to be a better person and to enjoy what I have in life.  My wife, my daughters and you saved my life so many times when I felt I did not want to be hear any more.  You are the strength that has brought me down a path of forgiveness.  There are not enough words to explain what you have meant to me through out the years.    Gosh, I can't believe I am actually writing this...still can't believe you are really gone.  I remember meeting you back 80 and barn dances!  You sure could dance and make people laugh...I am so going to miss our chats on Facebook and that we were able to reconnect after all these years!

    Jake, please know that your father thought the world of you and spoke so highly of you during our chats.  You surely made him a PROUD daddy!  Remember that when you are having a hard day and know that he is ALWAYS with you!

Sorry...correction to my first post on when I met Mike. It was at HHS in 1979, not 1982.

Uncle Mike, You weren't just my uncle you know...I'm caught somewhere in the time warp where you were my big brother more than an uncle. I looked up to you, adored you....tortured you ha ha, you meant so much to me. I remember as a little girl bugging you to play with me all the time, face it, I was the perfect annoying little sister. You would throw me around, make goofy faces at me, entertain me, tell me to beat it ha ha.You were always so full of life. I grew up with you, looking up to you, loving you. I remember when you met Kim and had Jake - you were beaming with happiness, it just poured out of you. From then on, I don't think you ever had a conversation without bringing them up, they were your pride, it was amazing. I know you're watching us all from up above, I hope that we can make you proud. I hope that you guide us to Jake when he needs it the most, I hope you let him know he can call us whenever he needs it. I will remind him constantly of how proud you are of him. I miss you dearly.....I love you so much.....

When  I think of the Barndances at Langley, I see Mike Thibodeau there dancing to "Double Dutch Bus". He even came the 81 HHS Graduation. He and a few of his friends sat high up in the bleachers on the side of the Hampton Coliseum. When my name was called, I saw Mike jump up and yell "Whaaaaattttttttt...Whaaaaatttttt....Whaaaaatttttt"?   Classic Mike.

We reconnected in the Summer of 2009 on Facebook. Since then we have stayed in touch and picked up right where we left off in 1985. I will always remember Mike's hillarious sense of humour and even more so his enormous heart and capacity to reach out and care for his family and friends. I Love You tremendously dear friend. Dearest Mike - not only were you my husband but you were the father of our most beautiful son, Jake, and you were my best friend.  The days and weeks and years ahead will be difficult without you.  Who will I call when I just need someone to talk to.......who will encourage me.....who will always be in my corner......I know that you will always be there with me to help me steer Jake in the right direction, not that he needs that at all.  You are such a wonderful, dedicated father.  Jake is who he is today because of your love and dedication to him.  He knows without a doubt that you loved and adored him.  Not many young men can say that about their dad.  When I was alone and pregnant with Sam....you were there for me and Jake.......when he was born, you were there with us.....you are his Uncle Mike and he loves you......You treat him with every bit of love as if he were your own....you always thought of him and you loved him because he is "Sam" but also because he is Jake's brother.  We will forever remember you......we will laugh at all the silly moments we all had together....and we will be sad at times too because we will miss you.  I see you in Jake and that makes me happy and proud.  I know you will always be with Jake and I love you for that.  I miss your silly laugh already and your obsessive calling........ha.......I hope you knew how much you meant to all of us.  I will never have a more loyal person in my life...I have so much more to say but I will say those things just to you when I pray at night.

A few things I will always remember about Mike were that famous laugh when he was in a silly mood, and his cocky demeanor. But, he was always in a great mood, and growing up with him at Langley and Tidemill made for some wonderful memories.

Around 7th grade, I still remember Mike bragging for 2 weeks about how he caught a shark behind his house, and showing the photo to anybody that would look at it. Of course, that triumphant smile holding it was typical Mike.

Sadly, after college began, I ended up in Tampa, and I lost contact with Mike most of the past twenty-some years. My condolences to all who knew Mike, especially his son, and family. Nobody likes outliving their loved ones, and Mike was a dear friend to everyone who knew him. 

Mike, you will never be forgotten!

I would like to say the memorial service with family participating was awsome...such a sweet sweet spirit among friends and family...with communion...and ths music was awsome...much love in this family...we are sorry for your loss but God needed another angel...and Jake what a wonderful son you are the love of your Dads life..go on and in every accomplish you make SAY THIS IS FOR YOU DAD AND MOM...with God first in your life you will do well God bless yall and comfort and undr gird you with his love...mercey and grace...we will keep yall in our prayers...moment by moment in some cases ...you got your memories be good to each other and be blessed
