

Pauline Elizabeth Pickett was called home by her blessed Savior and Lord Jesus Christ on February 14, 2014 in Bynum, TX. She was born on September 12, 1914 to Moil D. Cuthbertson and Ethel L. Cuthbertson in Wilson Creek township of Caldwell County, NC. The strong moral values and examples of her hard working parents instilled in her the value of a God given life. Following graduation from ATC in Asheville, NC with a BS degree in Education she taught six grades in a one room schoolhouse in Buchanon County, VA. She taught in the Hampton school district for 29 years.
On May 20, 1939, she married Rev. Wilbur Pickett, a graduate of Eastern Baptist Seminary and Pastor of Conowingo Baptist Church in MD. Together they served in churches in MD and VA for 52 years. In this time a son and daughter were born. After six years at Exmore Baptist Church Rev. W. Pickett was called to Langley Baptist Church, where they served a rewarding 23 years and they retired leaving a debt free church. Then moving on to Newport News and joined Temple Baptist Church, both became active in teaching Sunday School and Mission classes. Pauline also joined the jail ministry and counseled the ladies for 14 years. She then moved to Bynum, TX to spend her last years with her daughter, son-in-law, and grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her parents, husband Rev. Wilbur Warner Pickett, son Neil Pickett and two brothers.
She leaves to cherish her memory a loving daughter Carolyn Marsh, daughter-in-law Brenda Pickett, her sisters Louise Shrader and Betty Breeding, her brother Buddy Cuthbertson, and four grandchildren; Mike Pickett, Chris Pickett, Kim Eaddy, and David Marsh, ten great grandchildren and one great great grandchild.
Her love of Jesus touched and changed the lives of countless people. Pauline Pickett has carried the message of the Good News of Jesus Christ faithfully and leaves a legacy of love that will remain in our hearts forever – gently urging us to pursue God's purpose for our lives.
The family will receive friends Saturday, February 22, 2014 at Parklawn-Wood Funeral Home, 2551 N. Armistead Ave, Hampton, from 11 to 1 pm with a Celebration of Life Service to follow. Burial will immediately follow the service at Parklawn Memorial Park.
