Randolph Hugh Walters

Born February 22, 1936 in Surry County, North Carolina, he lived in Hampton for 74 years. A graduate of Hampton High School in 1955, he entered the Design Apprentice School at the shipyard and completed six years of Army Reserve duty. He retired from J.J. McMullen in May 1995.

Randy enjoyed gardening, cooking, bicycling and walking down Buckroe Beach, spending time at his timeshare in Virginia Beach and traveling with his family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Garvin Walters and brother, Aubrey W. Walters.

He is survived by his loving wife of 37 years, Dorothy D. Walters; step-sons, William H. Sleigher, Jr. and his wife, Ann and David Sleigher and his wife, Robin; sister, Mary Niel; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and two nieces and a nephew.

The family will receive friends from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm, Thursday, May 12, 2016 at Parklawn Memorial Park Mausoleum Chapel with a celebration of Randy's life to follow at 12:00 pm.

Memorial contributions may be made in lieu of flowers to the American Lung Association or The Animal Aid Society.
