Ransone "Ranny" W. Watterton, 80, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Saturday, April 1, 2023. He was born April 5, 1942 in Richmond, Virginia and was a long time resident of beautiful downtown Phoebus.
Ranny was a beloved father, grandfather and great-grandfather, who loved life, being with people, and used to always say if he got any better he'd have to pay a happy tax or he'd have to be twins. He was a Navy Veteran, retired from IBEW 1340, as a Union Electrician, and was a member of Phoebus United Methodist Church. He loved helping others and volunteered for many different organizations, but was most proud of his work for Habitat for Humanity. He will be greatly missed by everyone who was blessed to have him in their lives.
Ranny was preceded in death by his wife of 55 years, Dorothy Watterton; his parents, Marian Watterton and Ransone Watterton; his brother, Clarence "Bubba" Watterton; and his nephew, Michael Joseph Watterton.
He is survived by his two daughters, Sandra Jones (Barry), and Lee Ann Watterton; brothers, Joey Watterton (Mary Jo), and Ben Watterton; sister, Michele Watterton; along with grandchildren, Karen Viele (Brennon), Jayson Watterton (Jennifer), and Jessica Jones (Cody); and great-grandchildren, Matthew, and Nicholas Mort, Jackson and James Watterton, Mia and Alyssa Viele, Mackenzie Sibley, Izzie, Eleanor and Penelope Prater with Willow Prater on the way.
A Graveside Service will be held Wednesday, April, 12, 2023 at 1:00 PM, at Parklawn Memorial Park, per Ranny's request.
