Steven F. Dolan, beloved husband, step-father, and grandfather passed away peacefully on April 18 surrounded by family. He is survived by his wife, Carol Dolan, step-daughter Karyn Cram (Rob), grandchildren, Alex Hamrick, Nick Wade, and Sydney Hamrick, and his dog Maggie Mae.
Steve was born in Booneville, NY on November 9, 1947. He enlisted in the Army, was stationed at Ft. Eustis, and served in Vietnam, specifically during the Tet Offensive. Following the service, he made his home in Hampton, VA working as an accountant for AW Cummings and Buck Stove. In 1985 he and his wife started Dolan Fence, a business they ran together for 27 years. They are very proud of the fences they installed throughout the Hampton Roads area. In later years, he was a driver for Amtrak, a role he truly loved, as he got to do what he enjoyed most – talking to people as he drove them between the station and the hotel.
During his life, Steve enjoyed many things, but his greatest loves were bowling, animals, and traveling in an RV. He was an avid bowler for most of his life, having achieved its greatest victory, a 300 game! He did this, not once, but three times, the most recent on a Senior League in 2016. He met his future wife at Century Lanes in Hampton in 1974 and they married in 1988. He owned many tiny dogs throughout his life and he loved feeding the geese, ducks, and cats in their neighborhood. He also enjoyed traveling in their RV, including many trips to Lake Kerr, and an extended trip that took he and his wife to Memphis.
No service is planned, but donations can be made in his honor to the Animal Aid Society, https://www.animalaidsociety.org/.
