Walter T. Lewis

He was born on April 19,1931 in Norfolk, VA to Madeline Mae Lewis and Oscar Thomas Lewis .

He was very proud of his heritage as a descendant of the Meherrin Indian Tribe from North Carolina.

He grew up on his family’s farm and after high school began working in the transportation field.

During his career as a Truck Driver, he worked for several milking firms including High’s Ice Cream, Matthew’s Dairy and the Marva Maid Dairy.

He loved a good cigar, team bowling and was an avid fan of worldwide wrestling over the years. He especially enjoyed watching TV series like Blue Bloods, any series with super-heroes, and older shows like Walker Texas Rangers, Perry Mason, including cartoons like Tom & Jerry and good old Westerns especially with John Wayne.

Walter loved animals and had cats and dogs around him throughout his life. He also loved photography and always had a new camera ready to go to take pictures of the family.

He was very proud to have become a Roman Catholic in 2014 and when he was unable to attend church, he watched daily Mass services on TV.

He was preceded in death by the love of his life, Anneliese Bridgman, Phyllis Crowell, his first wife and second spouse, Shirley Stuart. He was a dedicated Step-Dad to Clifford Bridgman (deceased), Georgia Graves and Gerald Bridgman, family Members: Mike Graves, Anneliese and Joey Mallonee, Diane and Mark Falin, Kim, Kelly and Keegan Kubisiak, Cliff, Kristen, and Tyler Bridgman.

He had 3 daughters: Phyllis Lewis Shepphard and granddaughter Latonja; Madelene Lambton, her husband Michael Lambdin and grandson Horacio Capella; and Waltia Lewis McCloud, 4 granddaughters, 18 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren.

Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, July 28, 2020 at Parklawn-Wood Funeral Home with visitation at 9:45am and services starting at 10:00am followed by the burial at Parklawn Memorial Park.
