William "Bill" Mack Jenkins left his earthly home on Saturday, January 7, 2012, bathed in love by his family and hospice workers at the VA Medical Center in Hampton, and is now reunited in Heaven with his first born son, William Ray.
Mack was a veteran of the Korean War and earned several medals and citations. He was a mechanic by trade and spent his entire life fixing anything with a motor. He loved "tinkering" in his garage, fishing, camping, and most of all, spending time with family.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Ann, whom he always referred to as "Honey"; his son, Keith Jenkins and wife, Jennifer of Gloucester; his daughter, Sherrie Armstrong and husband, Ed of Yorktown; his beloved dogs, Lucky and Riley; and his granddogs, Stevie, Cosmo, Kaylee and Shelby.
The family would like to thank their extended "family" at the Palliative Care Unit at the VA Hospice for the extraordinary care, attention, and love given to Mack and his family during his stay.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, January 11, 2012 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Parklawn-Wood Funeral Home. A celebration of Mack's life will be held Thursday, January 12 at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home. Interment will follow to Parklawn Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the "William M. Jenkins Memorial Fund" at any Bayport Credit Union. The donations will be used to add DVD players to the patient rooms at the Palliative Care Unit of the VA Medical Center.
Friends are encouraged to visit www.parklawn-woodfh.com to share memories and words of condolence with the family. Arrangements are under the care of Parklawn-Wood Funeral Home, 2551 N. Armistead Avenue, Hampton, VA 23666.
