Mr. William "Bill" Nelson Minter, 73, of Hampton, Va passed away on Saturday, April 24, 2021. A native of Danville, Va, Bill was a resident of Hampton for the past 43 years. He worked as a Logistics Engineer for Newport News Shipbuilding for 28 years. He also worked for Hampton Chevrolet as a Courtesy Shuttle Driver for 8 years, where he will be missed by many. Bill was a dedicated member of Ivy Memorial Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon. He was also a veteran of the U.S. Army and Virginia Army National Guard. During his service he was awarded the National Defense Service Member medal and earned his Combat Aircrew Wings. Bill was an Assistant Scoutmaster in the Boy Scouts of America and a Master Mason at Bremond Lodge #241 of Newport News. He is preceded in death by his father, Thomas Nelson Minter; mother, Sallie McGuire Minter; brother, Keith Minter; and sister, Marcia Minter. Bill is survived by his loving wife of 49 years, Brenda Evans Minter; sons, Jeffrey Minter, and William B. Minter; daughter, Angie Minter; and the joys of his life grandsons, Cameron Minter, Reese Ortiz Minter, and Thomas Minter; sister, Amy Minter Myrick (Joe); and many other family and friends. The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM to 7:30 PM on Tuesday, April 27, 2021 at Parklawn-Wood Funeral Home, 2551 N. Armistead Ave., Hampton, VA, 23666. A Celebration of Life service will be held at 12:00 PM on Wednesday, April 28, 2021 at Ivy Memorial Baptist Church, 2200 Coliseum Drive, Hampton, VA, 23666. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to The Children's Tumor Foundation for NF research at ctf.org. Friends are encouraged to visit parklawn-woodfh.com to share memories and words of condolence with the family.
