Barbara Jean Attebery passed away on May 13, 2015 at the age of 82. She was born in Corona, California to Ellis and Ruth Murphy on October 27, 1932. Barbara lived in Corona until 1960 when she and her family moved to Hanford, California. She had a wonderful outlook on life and her religious beliefs were extremely strong and motivated by the reading of the Holy Bible. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Hanford for all of her years that she lived in Hanford, CA.
Barbara worked at Hanford High School (Earl F. Johnson) for a number of years as their office secretary. She enjoyed her work and met and worked with many really wonderful people that she knew and respected. She then moved to Bakersfield for a few years and worked in the farming industry for Frank Garone Farms. There, she learned the ends and outs of the agricultural business in regards to office management. A few years later, Barbara decided to move back to Hanford and worked for Jack Stone, at Stone Land Company for the rest of her working days! All in all, she spent 35 years in the agriculture business. While at Stone Land Company, she was the office manager and was instrumental in making things work for Jack Stone and the company. Barbara loved her work and enjoyed the people she worked with at Stone Land. That was a wonderful time of her life. After retirement she moved to Sonora, CA for a few years and then made it back to Hanford, where she lived out the rest of her time with us on earth.
Barbara Jean Attebery was an avid sports fan. She loved to watch good, college basketball around tournament time, however, the Los Angeles Dodger baseball team was her #1 passion! Anyone who truthfully knew Barbara would have understood her intense love of the game and of her dedication to her beloved Dodgers. Barbara said that she would come home from church and immediately turn on the Dodger game if they were playing on the television. She would often call family and say, "Pastor Gary let us out five minutes early so we wouldn't miss the 1st inning!" An amazing love for the game and for her Los Angeles Dodgers.
Barbara leaves behind three siblings, three children, seven grandchildren and seventeen great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by father (Ellis Murphy), mother (Ruth Murphy) and brother (Jack Murphy).
