Dennis A. Hill

Dennis Hill was born to Elmer “Wesley” & Alice Jean (Wood) Hill on November 24, 1942 in Hanford, California where Dennis has resided all of his life. Dennis went to be with the Lord and his son, Wesley Hill on Monday, March 14, 2016.

He attended various schools in Hanford Elementary School District. Dennis graduated from Hanford High School, and then went on to College of the Sequoias. He worked his way through college at State Market while attending California State University, Fresno until graduating with a Bachelor of Science.

Starting at the early age of 10, Dennis began proudly working with his father at Hill’s Fancy Bakery where he developed his strong work ethic, integrity and continued working throughout his life.

Dennis was extremely patriotic. He served our country proudly by joining the U.S. Army Reserve as a Medic from 1964-1970.

Before Dennis’s teaching career he had worked as a Social Worker for Kings County Social Services. He spent his life dedicated to his students as a Teacher for the Hanford Elementary School District until retiring after 30 years. While he was enthusiastic about teaching, he also coached sports during his tenure. Once retired, Dennis served as a longtime and loyal Board of Trustee Member for the H.E.S.D. until his passing.

Anyone who knew Dennis knew him as a man of great honor and a very caring person. He truly gave and offered generously to others and to many different charitable organizations, especially anonymously. Being very ambitious, he was a self-taught carpenter and began building businesses that he owned and operated, which allowed him to faithfully serve the community in many special ways. He was a large supporter of worthy causes. Dennis truly loved his family and his country more than anything. He enjoyed gardening, landscaping and sharing his home grown vegetables with others. He also enjoyed traveling with his family and relaxing at the coast. He also treasured trips quail hunting with his sons. He was very proud of his daughter’s beautiful artwork which she frequently shared. Humor and wit were a large part of Dennis’s personality.

Dennis was most proud of his family, whom he adored and cherished. He married the love of his life on November 29, 1986 in Sacramento, Sue Marie Hill. Together they had 2 beautiful sons; Graham Richard and Wesley Allen Hill.

Dennis is preceded in death by his loving son; Wesley Allen Hill in 2013, his parents; Wesley & Alice Hill and his brothers; Wesley Hill & Robert “Bob” Hill.

He leaves behind his devoted and loving wife of 30 years; Sue Hill and wonderful son; Graham Hill of Hanford and his adoring daughter; Jennifer Hill of Napa, CA.

A Graveside Service will be held on Thursday, March 24, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. with U.S. Army Military Funeral Honors at Grangeville Cemetery; 10428 14th Avenue, Armona, CA 93202.
