

the devoted wife of Gene R. Bassett of Hanford. Together the pair shared 34 magnificent years of marriage.
Born in Kings County on March 17, 1944, Donna Jean Skaggs had a twin sibling and was one of
the 8 children of Clifford and Edith Skaggs. She is united in heaven with her parents and her
siblings Don, Violet, George, Phillip, Clifford and baby Edith.
She attended school and graduated Lemoore High Class of 1962. After dedicating 20 years of
logistical work with Beacon Oil, Donna joined Standard Register for 4 years of employment,
later delightfully served Netto Ag for 9 years.
Mrs. Bassett was a member of Glad Tidings church. Her hobbies included enjoying time with her
family friends and pets. She shared her days outdoors maintaining her garden and home.
Fishing, camping, boating and traveling in the couples Recreational Vehicle was a favorite for
Donna. She treasured her beautiful assortment of vintage coca cola items, and preserved a 30
year collection of unique porcelain dolls.
She is survived by her husband Gene Bassett, and sister Billie Buyense. She will be greatly
missed by her children Tina Jimenez, Kimberly Riso, Tracy Phelps, Shawn Phelps, and Stacy &
Carl Hicks, her loving son in law. Donna was lucky to have, in additional to her own, two more
daughters in Gena & Lori Bassett.
There are 28 grandchildren and 15 great grandbabies who are left with loving memories and are
ever so much missing their Grandma Bassett.
The viewing will be held Wednesday, July 29, 2015 from 4-7 pm at People’s Funeral Chapel. Funeral Service will be held, Thursday July 30, 2015 at 11:30 am at Glad Tidings Church 750 E. Grangeville Blvd., Hanford, Ca. with burial to follow at Grangeville Cemetery.
