Dorthy Meek McGee

Dorthy Meek McGee was born January 2, 1940 to Leonard & Nellie Matsell in Ventura, CA. She was the oldest of four children. Her siblings were Danny, Shirley & Wava who all proceeded her in death. September 10, 1958 she married Harvey W. Meek and they had six children, with Kimberly passing shortly after birth in 1959. Harvey passed in 1989. She married Jim McGee in 2010, he survives her.

Jeff was born in 1958. He married Kelly Rowland and they have a daughter Brook. Jeff passed in 1993. Brook has three boys: Jeffrey, Tyler and Garret.

Michelle was born in 1960. Her husband is Walt Stratton and they live in Wellington, CO. Michelle has two daughters: Misty & Stacie. Misty has three daughters: Andrea, Tiffany & Marissa and two grandsons: Izayah and Josiah. Stacie has one son, Jonathan.

Steven was born in 1962. He married Patricia Blackwell and they live in Ft. Collins, CO. They have two children: Crystal & Steven.

Wendy was born in 1965. She lives in Iowa City, IA. She has three children: Justin, Joshua and Kimberly and two grandsons: James & Dominic.

Alesha was born in 1967. She married George Barber and they live in Salem, IA. They have no children.

Throughout the years the family lived in rural Corcoran, CA, rural Hanford, CA and then moved into Hanford in 1984.

Dorthy worked various jobs as her children grew up so that she could be home as much as possible during their childhood. She attended all of the kids sporting events and school activities, sometimes being Team Mom.

When the family moved to rural Hanford, she began working at the “Bingo Palace”. She left once, but returned and had an accumulation of 20 years service for the Tachi Palace retiring in 2010. She also worked for Best Care Home Health Care in the office.

She loved to read mystery books, gamble, play bingo and she enjoyed spending time with her family. She was extremely proud of her Great Great Grandsons.

A Celebration of Dorthy's Life will take place on Saturday, August 15, 2015 at 9 am at People's Funeral Chapel. Inurnment will take place at Corcoran Cemetery.
