Eleanor "Nina" Orique Miller

Eleanor Miller passed away Tuesday, September 8, 2015 at the age of 92. The ninth of 11 children born to Maria and Frank Orique, she was a native Californian and lived most of her life in Hanford, California. Eleanor was a dedicated wife and mother, a compassionate person who devoted her life to her family.

She is survived by three children; daughter Katherine Hartig & her husband Gary of Pismo Beach, sons; David Galante & his wife Anita of Hanford and Michael Galante & his wife Wanda of Apple Valley, and daughter-in-law Maria Galante of Hanford. She is also survived by 10 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren, sisters Winnie Mendes and Madeline Vincent and sister-in-law Delores Orique.

Eleanor was touched by sorrow when she lost her first husband; Joseph Galante, who died un-expectedly in 1968, her grandson; Alan Ecker at age 17, her second husband; Henry Miller who passed in 2000, her daughter; Rosemary Bash who passed in 2012 and her youngest son; Donald Galante who passed away in 2015.

She was also preceded in death by sisters; Balbina Pereira, Sarah Souza, Mary Batista, Adelaide Mendes, Josephine Berberia, Billie Brown and brothers; Joe Orique and Manual Orique.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, September 17, 2015 from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. with a Rosary Service at 6:00 p.m. all at People’s Funeral Chapel; 501 N. Douty Street, Hanford, CA 93230 (559) 584-5591. A Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, September 18, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Brigid Catholic Church; 1000 N. Douty Street, Hanford, CA 93230 and Burial following at Grangeville Cemetery; 10428 14th Avenue, Armona, CA 93202.
