

Ernie was born June 30, 1927 in Cole, Oklahoma to Garland and Lucy Gammell. He was married to Zelma "Lou" Gammell on December 20, 1947; they were married for 62 years.
Ernie had a love for fishing, hunting, hiking, camping, real estate and spending time with his family. He was a member of First Southern Baptist Church for many years. Ernie entered the United States Merchant Marines and then the Air Force. After he was discharged they moved to Caruthers, CA and then onto San Jose in 1958 were Ernie attended San Jose State as a Math Major and then started career in Real estate before moving to Hanford, CA. On December 19, 1961 their daughter Marsha was born in Hanford, CA. In 1973 Ernie and Lou Moved to Hanford were he start Gammell's Underground Construction. Ernie and Lou loved to travel through the United States.
He is preceded in death by his wife Lou Gammell, his parents Garland and Lucy Gammell, his brothers Sherman and James and sisters Bea, Joe and Ellen.
He is survived by his daughter Marsha Gammell and fiancé Kelly Chapman, granddaughters Erica Nolen and husband Stacey and Alisa Phillips and husband Tyler, great grandchildren Melesio Phillips, Christopher Nolen, Shyanne Nolen and Anthony Nolen, and sister Wanda Rocha, and numerous nieces and nephews.
A Visitation will be held on Wednesday, August 10th from 5-7 pm at People’s Funeral Chapel; 501 N. Douty St, Hanford, CA and the Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, August 11th at 10 am at the First Southern Baptist Church; 1207 N. 11th Ave, Hanford, CA followed by Burial at Hanford Cemetery; 10500 S. 10th Ave, Hanford, CA.
