Eva May Poole left this earth to join her beloved husband, Grady “Burl” Poole and son, James Poole on November 6, 2014. Eva and her twin brother, Ray, were the last of 10 children born to David and Allie Edwards in Oklahoma in 1928.
She came to California in 1934 with her family and settled in Hanford, where she met her loving husband of 39 years, Burl. Eva and Burl enjoyed their lives with their two sons, Michael and James until Burl’s passing in 1986.
Eva will be remembered as a sweet and kind-hearted person who enjoyed life and stayed actively involved in volunteer functions. Eva continued her participation in church and volunteer work until her health no longer allowed her the pleasure. Even then, Eva enjoyed her Bingo nights and the fellowship of her many friends at Diamond Terraces residential care home. Eva leaves behind her loving son, Michael Poole, dear sister, Beatrice Kilmer and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family members.
The family wishes to thank Eva’s dear and loyal friends, Shirley and Norma for the love and kindness they showed as they watched over her; and also Bob and Jan Norman of Diamond Terraces and their amazing staff for giving Eva a loving home environment where she felt nurtured, loved and protected during her final years.
Those who wish to honor Eva’s memory should donate to a church or charity of their choice. Eva would have liked that. Friends and family are invited to share memories of Eva at a memorial service to be held at People’s Chapel in Hanford on Monday, November 17th at 11am.
