Glenda Nelline King was born on February 26, 1963 in Ceres, California. She passed into the presence of her Savior, Jesus Christ, on October 26, 2024 at the age of 61 years, 8 months. She grew up in Hughson, CA. She lived in Hanford, CA for the past 33 years.
Glenda was a loving wife and devoted helpmeet to her husband, Pastor King. She worked side by side with her husband in establishing and building the New Testament Baptist Church. She prayed daily for her husband. Even during her battle with cancer, she would tell him that she was praying for him as he left the house to head to the office or any visit he might be making. She was his closest source of encouragement and his closest confidant in the ministry.
Her family was the most precious thing in her life. She prayed for her children daily. She was very proud and supportive of her two daughters and two sons. Though quiet by nature, she was the biggest cheerleader for each of her children. She worked tirelessly to teach them to love God and people. She would often tell them, “We love God and like things.” Her greatest joy was to see them serving the Lord.
She loved being a grandma. One of her favorite shirts read, “My favorite people call me Grandma.” There was never a thought in her mind of downsizing her house. She wanted space for her children and grandchildren to come and visit. She enjoyed watching them every chance she had. She would take the time to teach them a Bible verse, particularly Ephesians 6:1 and to sing Sunday school songs like Rolled Away, Deep and Wide, and The Lord’s Army, etc.
Glenda, affectionately known as Mrs. King, spent the last 33 years as a pastor’s wife. She loved the Lord Jesus Christ and loved her church family. During her years of ministry at the church, Mrs. King taught every age group from the babies in the nursery to the teens. She also taught classes for the ladies and conducted Ladies meetings to minister to the ladies of the church. One of her most precious ministries was praying for the ladies’ prayer request they filled out at Breakfast and Blessings every year. She was also a teacher in the Christian school conducted by the church. Again, she taught nearly every age group and subject. She truly loved each and every one of her students.
Glenda was preceded in death by her mother Mary Louise Keener and her father Douglas Paul Keener. She is survived by her husband Thomas King of Hanford, CA, her daughter Hannah King of Hanford, CA, her son Jonathan (Kaitlyn) King of Idaho Falls, ID, her son Seth (Kelsey) King of Hanford, CA, her daughter Rachel (Shane) Stensaas of Eaton, OH.
