Janis Arlene Anderson was born Janis Arlene Emel on November 14, 1938 in Salem, Oregon. She was the only child of William Wesley Emel and Carol Joy Collar. Her father was a Nazarene minister. She spent much of youth in Daly City, California and graduated from Jefferson High School. After high school she attended secretarial school and she was an outstanding executive secretary in the San Francisco Bay area for several years., She oftern assisted her husband by typing reports and etc. while he pursued his college degree. He always bragged how she was a major factor in helping him through college. She quit the secretarial profession and took on the responsibilities of being a fulltime wife and stay at home mother for her three wonderful children, Laura Arlene Mitchell, Robert Eric Anderson III and Race Erin Anderson.
Her children have always provided her with constant love and companionship, especially so since her physical illnesses and retirement several years age. Jan, as she was known by her friends, enjoyed the outdoor life of camping, hiking and just the art of living her live to the fullest. She especially loved playing tennis with her ex-husband and chlidren, but being a mother and wife was God's true calling for her. Jan was a Christian and had been a member of several churches in Northern, CA. She always did the best she possibly could to follow God's will in her life. You could find a Bible with her at all times.
To know Jan was to love her. She had a childlike innocence that drew people to her from all walks of life. In her youth, Jan was truly a gorgeous young woman, and turned many heads wherever she was. The first time her husband saw her, he told his friend "I'm going to marry that girl!" She progressed to being equally beautiful in her golden years.
Words cannot fully express how much she will be missed. Jan is survived by: Robert Anderson, Sr., (ex-husband); daughter, Laura Arlene Mitchell; sons, Robert Eric Anderson III and Race Erin Anderson and one granddaughter, Summer Anderson. She was preceded in death by her mother, Carol Joy Ferris, and father Wesley Emel. Jan's beautiful face and smile will always linger in our hearts. Good bye dear Jan and Mom, until we all meet again!
