

Joe Bob Richwine, age 82, of Hanford, California, passed away peacefully on Friday, January 24, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on May 29, 1942, in Eufaula, Oklahoma. Joe grew up in the small town of Armona, California and graduated from Hanford High School, where he made great memories as a baseball player.
He was the beloved son of Howard and Sybil Richwine. Joe’s strong sense of duty and dedication to his country led him to proudly serve as a soldier in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. His commitment to service and country was a defining part of his life, and he carried the pride of being a veteran throughout his years.
Joe worked in the grocery business for over 30 years. In addition to his professional life, Joe was an avid golfer and a member of the Lemoore Golf Course and the Hanford Country Club. He enjoyed countless hours on the course, boasting an impressive total of five Holes in One. Joe attended the Lemoore Presbyterian Church for many years.
Beyond his work and hobbies, Joe had a great love for working in his yard, taking immense pride in tending to his garden and creating a beautiful space. He also had a wonderful gift for storytelling, often sharing colorful tales of the past with anyone who would listen, bringing history and laughter to those around him.
In 1974, Joe married Barbara Bray Hotchkiss, with whom he shared 50 years. Together, they built a life full of cherished moments. Joe was a devoted husband and a treasured friend to many.
Joe is survived by his wife, Barbara; his stepchildren, Kevin (Kathy) Hotchkiss, Dana (Robert) Hight, and Sandra (Michael) Nordstrom, and their families; his sister, Loretta (Brad) Sansom; as well as many nieces, nephews, grandchildren and great grandchildren . He was preceded in death by his son, Justin Howard Richwine, his father Howard, his mother Sybil, and his brother Steven.
A memorial service to honor Joe’s life will be held at Lemoore Presbyterian Church on Monday, February 10 at 10:00. Joe’s family takes comfort in knowing that he is now at peace, reunited with those who went before him. He will be deeply missed but never forgotten.
