John was born on April 25, 1943 in Huntington Park, California to Rev. Henry and Earlene Fowler. He graduated from Barstow High School in 1961. John met the love of his life Vicky in August of 1963. They married on May 15, 1964, and their love and commitment never wavered. It was a beautiful love story and they built their family by raising two sons, Brent and Justin.
John had been a member of Hanford First Baptist Church since 1989. He was diagnosed with Multiple Myeloma in 2008. His faith never wavered, as he battled the disease for 17 years. John spent the majority of his work career as an Instrument man/Electrician. He worked 18 years at the Beacon Oil Refinery in Hanford, California and 14 years for Chevron Oil Company.
As his boys grew up, John enjoyed coaching both baseball and youth football. John was also quick to volunteer and help with community projects (Bob Hill Little League Complex) and various clubs. He was also an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting and fishing, especially with his brother-in-laws.
John was preceded in death by his parents Rev. Henry and Earlene Fowler, sisters Denith Marmeljo and Gladys Gay, brother-in-laws Morris Proctor and Larry Nicholson. He is survived by his wife Vicky, sons Brent (Ellen) and Justin (Debbie), grandchildren Shelby Moss (Anthony) and Sarah and Luke Fowler; great granddaughters Eliza and Maya Moss as well as a large extended family.
We will celebrate John’s life on Friday, January 9th, 2026 at 1:00 p.m. at the Corcoran Cemetery (4170 Waukena Rd, Corcoran, Ca). In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Cancer Society.
