Bob was born July 20, 1943, in Bakersfield, CA, the son of Wayne and Virginia Murray. Bob grew up in Corcoran, CA on the family farm which he eventually owned and farmed. In 1964, he married Donnetta (Zall) Murray and they were blessed with two children soon afterwards. Bob moved to Hanford in 1997 when he remarried, Katy (Brown) Murray, where they raised their daughter, Maggie. Over the last couple of years, Bob spent much of his time on the central coast with his partner, Charlotte Souza, playing golf and socializing with friends.
While in Corcoran, Bob spent 35 years in agriculture, managing the family farm and working for the Boswell Company. In 2002, he shifted his focus to his passion, motorcycles, and opened Thunder Alley, a custom performance pipe fabrication business. Bob had clients throughout the motorcycle-sprinter world and was well known for handcrafting one-of-a-kind pipes. He was also a creative welder, making specialized wine racks, display cases and seating for his son’s winery, Tooth & Nail in Paso Robles. Bob loved playing and coaching golf, riding motorcycles, and earlier in his life skiing.
Bob is survived by his brother Mickey Murray, sister Susan Ball, son Rob Murray, daughter Erin Pittock, daughter Maggie Paz, grandchildren Jordan Murray, Jillian Murray, and Lauren Pittock.
A celebration of life will be held on January 22, 2023 from 12:00 - 3:00 at the Hanford Elk’s Lodge. Please RSVP to Erin Pittock at (650) 888-8986
