

29, 2017, at Adventist Medical Center. His departure leaves a huge void in the lives of his loving
wife Brenda, their two children, Natasha and Emily, Mother Susan Hill Boos, Sister Michelle
Gash, Brother Nicholas Hill wife Reana, Mother in Law Ruby Johnson, numerous nieces and
nephews, and his friends that loved him dearly. He was preceded in death by his father, Alfred
Hill in 1993.
He was a loving, kind, funny, caring, wonderful person who wanted to help people. He touched
many lives during his time here on Earth.
Laurence was born in Carmel, California on September 16, 1955, to Alfred and Susan Hill, and
was raised most of his life in the Central Valley. He graduated from Reedley High School in
1974. He was an Electrical Engineer for 20 years and enjoyed shortwave radio and Morse
Code, spending many hours communicating with his grandfather in Pacific Grove. He spent
many years overseas working on special electrical projects which gave him the opportunity to
see the world. He volunteered his time with the Fresno Police Department as a Level 1
Reserve Police Officer
for over 20 years.
He changed careers becoming a Nurse Practitioner and worked for Adventist Health for over
20 years. He loved the medical field and the challenges he encountered; he never gave up on a
patient, even checking on patients on the weekend to see how they were doing. He saved
numerous lives. He was well respected for his medical knowledge.
He was an expert at barbecue, just ask anyone who tasted his delicious cooking. He was
president of the California Barbecue Association serving as President for multiple terms. He
sold pellet Barbecues and enjoyed going to trade shows with Cookshack. He was most proud
of being inducted into the Barbecue Hall of Fame. He founded and developed the website
We will always have him in our hearts forever.
