Maria Del Carmen Avalos

Maria D. Avalos was born on June 7, 1981 to David & Maria Concepcion Avalos. She was born with a bad uterus. At the age of 3, she had a hysterectomy. At the time of the surgery, Maria lost a lot of blood and was in need of an emergency blood transfusion. Maria happened to recover from the surgeries. Three years later, the Avalos family received a letter from Oakland Children's Hospital saying that the blood that was given to Maria had a high possibility of being infected with the HIV virus and they recommended Maria needed to go in for testing. Sadly, Maria turned out to be HIV + at the age of 6. She happened to battle with HIV/AIDS for 30 years. She finally lost her battle on Friday, January 23, 2015 at the age of 33.

Maria is survived by her loving father; David Avalos, Sr. 72, her 3 siblings; David Avalos, Jr. 40, Salvador Avalos 39 and Efrain Avalos 24.

Maria will be greatly missed. She was preceded in death by her mother; Maria Concepcion Avalos in 2007.

A Visitation will be held on Friday, February 13, 2015 from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. with a Funeral Service at 5:00 p.m. all at People’s Funeral Chapel; 501 N. Douty Street, Hanford, CA 93230 559-584-5591.
