Noel E. Singleton

Noel was born in Lawton, Oklahoma on October 30, 1924 to John & Flora Singleton. His family came to Riverdale when he was a young man where he attended schools in Riverdale. Noel served his country proudly in the European African Middle Eastern Campaign being honorably discharged from the U. S. Army in March 1946. He met the love of his life Mary Gonzalez and they were married in January 1943 at St. Anne’s Catholic Church in Riverdale.

Noel and Mary purchased the Laton Hardware Store in the 1970’s and worked side by side for over 30 years, retiring from the store in 2006. Noel was a faithful member of Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church of Laton where he was a member of the choir.

Noel’s passion was playing his guitar and singing county music. He would play and sing at every event or opportunity that he was given. He will be greatly missed by his family and all that knew and loved him.

Noel was preceded in death by his loving wife of 68 years Mary B. Singleton, Daughters Kristine Carr & Francine Shipman and brothers Howard Singleton & Billy Singleton.

He is survived by three sons, Edward Singleton and wife Darla of Nebraska, Paul Singleton and wife Billie of Hanford and Eric Singleton of Hanford, son-in-law Tom Carr of Lemoore, son-in-law Dan Shipman of Fremont, Two brothers Dale Singleton and wife Ruth of Riverdale and Gary Singleton and wife Jean of Arkansas, 13 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great-grandchildren.

A Visitation will be held on Monday, April 13, 2015 from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. with a Rosary at 6:00 p.m. all at the Shrine of Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church. A Mass will take place on Tuesday, April 14, 2015 at 10:30 a.m. at the Shrine of Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church; 20855 Fatima Avenue, Laton, CA 93242 559-923-4935 with a Burial following at Oak Grove Cemetery; 19811 S. Cedar Avenue, Laton, CA 93242.
