

Rachel A. Hahn, 90 passed away on Friday, August 9, 2013 at Adventist Medical Center after a brief illness. Since 1951 she lived and worked in the Armona-Hanford area. Rachel had been a waitress at Peden's downtown Hanford location and later worked at the Golden West Pancake House until she was in her 70’s.
She was born in White County, Arkansas on January 12, 1923. She was preceded in death by her father; James Monroe Rose, her mother; Hanna Etta Rose as well as her daughter; Diana Lynn Arnold.
She is survived by her two daughters; Dorothy Rose Bisgrove of New Hampshire and Beverly A. Butt of Arkansas, a her son; Ronald A. Nissila of Discovery Bay, California and many grandchildren, many, many great-grandchildren and numerous great-great-grandchildren.
Rachel was a regular "Rosie the Riveter" during World War II, driving a forklift for Dow Chemical in the area where bazooka tubes were manufactured.
Rachel was a frequent participant with the Retired Senior Volunteer Program lending her talents to many projects in the Hanford area. After her retirement she became an avid fisherwoman and could frequently be found at the river or other locations fishing for stripers. She also enjoyed bingo at the Senior Center, attending Church at First Baptist Church of Hanford and occasionally entertaining her granddaughters at the Palace to play bingo and the slot machines. She was also an active participant in activities at Heritage Park Apartments where she lived from the time it opened until she had a stroke in early 2012.
A Visitation will be held on Thursday, August 15, 2013 from 5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. at People’s Funeral Chapel; 501 N. Douty Street, Hanford, CA 93230 559-584-5591 and a Graveside Service will be held on Friday, August 16, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at Hanford Cemetery; 10500 10th Avenue, Hanford, CA 93230 559-584-3937.
