Sonja Lois Mckee

Sonja Sorensen McKee passed away Monday, June 20, 2016 peacefully at home after a courageous battle with Lymphoma. Born March 29, 1957 in Hanford, California, she was the 5th of 8 children to Dr. Neil and Lorraine Sorensen.

Sonja attended local schools and graduated from Hanford Union High School in 1975 where she participated in multiple school activities and made lifelong friendships. She went on to have a successful nursing career spanning over 35 years in which she was known to be a loving nurse and a strong advocate for her patients. During this time Sonja experienced her proudest moment, when she became a mother. Sonja was kind, strong, independent, and creative, a stranger to no one, and had a contagious laugh. The only thing bigger than her personality was her heart in which she had a special place for her grandson. She was the life of every party, a friend to all, and enjoyed her friends and family up to the last minute.

Sonja is survived by her son, Tor McKee, his wife, April McKee and their Son, Owen McKee of Hanford, CA, as well as her Brothers and Sisters and their spouses, Karen Sorensen of San Diego, Ca, Eric (Betsy) Sorensen of Visalia, Ca, Leif (Janice) Sorensen, of Folsom ,Ca, Kristin (Brett) Alldredge of Visalia, Ca, Lael (Lauren) Boyer of Clovis, Ca, Knute (Jackie) Sorensen of Clovis Ca, Tove (Terri) Sorensen of Salt Lake City, UT, Her beloved dog, Louie, Tor's Father, Jeff McKee of Clarendon, TX, numerous nieces and nephews, and many friends including her “Sistas”.

A memorial service for Sonja will be held, Friday, June 24, 2016 at 1p.m. at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints 2400 N. 11th Ave, Hanford, CA 93230.
