

Vera Passed away on Sunday, December 11, 2011 in Hanford, California at Kings Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. She was born to Ernest Jess and Martha Ellen Couch Ward on October 25, 1917 in Ringling, Oklahoma. She grew up in Colorado, and then moved with her family to Arizona as a teen. There she met and married Dale Wilson and they were married 68 years. They had three children in Arizona before moving to California in 1951. They lived in the Armona area for most of that time. Vera was a homemaker and also helped out on the farm. She had a beautiful garden and loved roses. She was an avid reader and mostly self educated. She was a whiz at crossword puzzles. She was a wonderful seamstress and enjoyed making quilts. She is well known among friends and family for her vegetarian tacos, which she made by the dozen and fed a crowd.
She was preceded in death by her husband Dale and two of her children, Gary and Raymond Wilson who both passed away in 2009. She is survived by her youngest son, Ernest Wilson of Modesto and his wife Sue. She had 7 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and 8 great-great-grandchildren.
She and Dale joined the Seventh-day Adventist Church in 1946 and were members all of their lives. They were very active in the church. It was a big part of their lives. They were members of the Armona SDA Church for over 50 years.
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, December 31, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. at the Lemoore Seventh-day Adventist Church; 1035 E. Hanford-Armona Road, Lemoore, CA 93245. A Private Burial will take place at a later date at Grangeville Cemetery, Armona, California.
