

Dan Campbell passed away peacefully surrounded by his wife and children on November 13, 2015. Dan was born in Boston on August 12, 1934. He grew up in Orchard Park, Roxbury and still maintained close relationships with many neighborhood friends. He graduated from Cathedral High School, Boston in 1952 followed by two years in the US Army during the Korean War. After the Army he entered Boston College graduating with a Bachelor of Science; Cum Laude (Accounting Major) in 1960. He then joined Arthur Andersen & Company in 1960 through 1966 prior to his employment at State Street Corporation from 1966 until he retired in 1999. Among his accomplishments were Manager of Cost Accounting, Manager of Profit Planning, Group Comptroller in Commercial Banking, Division Comptroller in Retail Banking and Division Personnel Officer. He attended and graduated from The School For Bank Administration in Madison, Wisconsin majoring in Controllership in 1971. Dan became a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accounts in 1964 and continued as a member until his passing. He volunteered as the Treasurer for the BoSox Club from 1970-1987. He also served as treasurer for the American Institute of Banking from 1972-1987 and Treasurer for the former Squirrel Brand Co. in Cambridge. He was a very active member of Holy Family Church in Rockland. He served as a Eucharistic Minister, Dan was the husband of Nancy (Granger) Campbell of Rockland and of the late Barbara O'Shea. He was the loving son of the late Gertrude (Dornlas) of Stoughton and John Campbell, he was the brother of the late Patricia Brooks of Stoughton and the late Paul Campbell of Westwood. Dan was an avid sports fan remaining faithful to the Boston Red Sox for many years. He watched every game of the New England Patriots sometimes sitting on the edge of his chair. He loved to participate in the Spring Street "Bombers" softball games in Rockland and volleyball on Sundays where he took pride in being the oldest active player. He is survived by his daughter Mary Beth Dixon of Mansfield and her husband John of Nevada, Daniel Campbell and his wife Bonnie of Hanover, Kathy Ullathorne and her husband Chris of Duxbury, Michael Campbell and his wife Gayla of Duxbury, Tina Convent and her husband Steven of Bridgewater, Dawn Spellman of Brockton and 18 beloved grandchildren. Visiting hours in the Sullivan Funeral Home, 45 East Water St in ROCKLAND on Tuesday from 4-7 PM. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday at 9 AM in Holy Family Church, 403 Union St in Rockland. Burial at Holy Family Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Norwell VNA and Hospice, 120 Longwater Dr, Norwell MA 02061 or to Greyhound Pets of America, 5 Smith St, Middleboro MA 02346.
