

David M. Walsh, 87, of Hanover, MA passed away peacefully at the Pat Roche Hospice Home on April, 22, 2026. Born on March 13, 1939, he was the eldest son of the late John Walsh of Quincy and Winifred (Tighe) Walsh of Wakefield. Born in Winchester, MA, he grew up as a proud Quincy resident graduating Quincy High School in 1958. He graduated from Bridgewater State College in 1965 where he met his first wife, Catherine. He was predeceased by his devoted wife Catherine (Barry) Walsh, 1943-1999, the mother of his two children David M. Walsh, Jr and Mary C. Walsh-Raab; and his second wife Helen (Lovejoy) Walsh, 1939-2012.
Dave, as he was known to family and friends, was a life-long educator. He began his career in 1965 as a science teacher at Sterling Middle School in Quincy, MA. In 1966, he became a chemistry teacher at Hanover High School. In 1975, he became an Assistant Principal at Hanover High School and in 1982 he was transferred to Hanover Junior High as an Assistant Principal. He worked for over 35 years in public education. Dave also was a past president of the Hanover Teachers Association. After retirement, he served for many years as an active member and ultimately Chair of the Hanover Advisory Committee. Dave was also a former member of St. Mary’s, St. Helen’s and St. Paul’s choirs.
He is survived by his son David and his wife Jennifer of Maynard, MA, and his daughter Mary and her husband Tom of Hanover. He was the proud Grandpa of David Raab, Meaghan (Raab) Alvermann, and Timothy Raab and Great Grandfather of Catherine Alvermann. David is also survived by his brother John F. Walsh and his wife Sara of Connecticut and their 3 daughters.
Visitation will be held at Sullivan Funeral Homes, 551 Washington Street, (Route 53), Hanover, MA on April 26, 2026, from 2:00 pm to 5:00 pm.
A Funeral Service will take place at Sullivan Funeral Homes, 551 Washington Street (Route 53), Hanover, MA on April 27, 2026, at 10:00 am followed by burial at Center Cemetery, Hanover.
