Dennis was born on March 7, 1954 in Newport, Rhode Island, to Dorothy and Paul Marvelle. He spent his early years playing endless baseball games and learning to swim in his beloved Narragansett Bay. After graduating high school in Quincy, he met the girl who would become his wife of more than 50 years and they put down roots in Hanover. Dennis would spend the next five decades serving in all his favorite roles: husband, father, grandfather, coach, and keeper of the cleanest pool in town.
Dennis enjoyed the simple, beautiful things in life: good music, being in the sun, playing catch with his grandchildren, and watching the Pats game in his chair.
Dennis is survived by his wife Kate, his four daughters, Kerry Davidson, Kristen Kavanaugh and her husband, William, Elizabeth Ferraro and her husband, Andrew, and Megan Bertini, all of Hanover. He also leaves behind his pride and greatest joys, his twelve grandchildren: Will, Kate, Brynn, and Connor Davidson; Anna, Caroline, and Willa Kavanaugh; Mary, Jack, and Millie Ferraro; and Tess and Tommy Bertini. He is predeceased by his parents and sister, Susan, and is survived by his brother, Michael.
Visiting hours will be held at Sullivan Funeral Home, 551 Washington Street, Hanover, on Tuesday, March 31 from 4-7 PM. A funeral mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, April 1, at 9 AM at Our Lady of the Angels, 392 Hanover Street in Hanover.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in honor of Dennis Marvelle to the Cam Neely Foundation for Cancer Care or Croi Health.
