James "Jamie" Norton, of Weymouth passed away suddenly on June 13, 2019 at the age of 47. He was the loving son of Judith Donohue and her husband Frank of Hingham. Jamie was a devoted dad to Alexis Swan and Austin Witunsky. Brother of John Norton and his wife Lori of Hanover, Frank Donohue and his wife Linda of Whitman, and sister of Kim Bertolino and her husband Chris of Rockland. Loving uncle to nieces Katie, Sara, Jenna, and Nicholas. Predeceased by his beloved companion Jennifer Swan.
A graduate of Hingham High School, he went on to become a dedicated employee of Sullivan & McLaughlin and a member of the IBEW 103 for over 20 years. During this time, he forged many long lasting friendships.
Throughout his teens, 20’s and 30’s competitive hockey was a staple. Whether it be Juniors during his teens or the beloved Chiefs during his 20’s and 30’s, Jamie left an impression on all he played with and against.
He was also an ardent fan of the Bruins. The night of his passing was game 7 of the Stanley Cup finals and his not being able to watch and enjoy most likely factored in the unfortunate result for the Bruins.
A passion of Jamie’s from an early age was dirt bike and motorcycle riding. Those that knew him were familiar with his beloved V-Max and how during the nice weather he never missed an opportunity to go out for a ride, many times with friends.
After his passing, Jamie was able to give gifts to 6 people as a donor for New England Donor Services.
Jamie had an extremely big heart and would never hesitate to help a relative or friend in need. He will be sorely missed by all who knew and loved him.
Visiting hours in the Sullivan Funeral Home, 45 East Water Street Rockland on Wednesday, June 19th from 4-7 PM. A service will be held in the funeral home on Thursday, June 20th at 10 AM with burial to follow at the Spring Lake Cemetery in Rockland.
