Joseph M. Woods

Joseph M. Woods, age 71, of Hanover, MA, passed away peacefully at home Thursday, May 3rd after a long illness. Joseph was born in Cambridge and raised in Dorchester. After living in Quincy for several years, he and his family settled in Hanover in 1979 and have remained there since.

Son of the late Francis J. Woods and Dorothy (Drake) Woods. Brother to James Woods of Ft. Lauderdale, FL. Husband to his high school sweetheart, the late Helen C. (McGlone) Woods. Joseph is survived by his loving children; Stephen M. Woods, wife Ellen Woods, of Peoria, AZ, Joseph F. Woods of Hanover and daughter Kathleen (Woods) Killough of Hanover. Joseph is also survived by his many loving in-laws; the late John J. McGlone and his wife Helen J. McGlone of Hyde Park, Jean and James Gately of Hingham, Barbara McGlone of Peabody, the late Joan McGlone, Ann and Alfred Williams of Waltham, Marnna McGlone, wife of the late John "Jack" McGlone of Dedham, Patricia and William Pardi of Norwood and Peggy and Scott Duncan of Saugus. Also survived by his many nieces and nephews whom he adored. He also leaves behind his very dear friend, Maria Mitro of TX. 

Joseph retired from Gillette in South Boston after 34 years of dedicated service. He enjoyed visiting the beaches of Cape Cod and Martha's Vineyard. 

Visiting hours will be held from 4-7pm Tuesday at Sullivan Funeral Home at 551 Washington Street, Rte 53, Hanover. A funeral mass will be held at St. Helens Church, 383 Washington Street, Norwell at 9am Wednesday. Joseph will be interred at Blue Hills cemetery in Braintree.
